The Weekend Remedy

Part of my morning ritual, on the weekend, is to sit and reflect on the past week. It is my chance to indulge in my pastimes. These things help me to rest, relax, and regroup and prepare for a new week ahead. Sometimes, after a long, stressful week, I feel fragile, and this helps me to not reach a breaking point.
Stress is something that impacts all of us. In regard to my recent diagnosis, stress is something that exacerbates my illness. It is important for me to take time for myself to help heal my body. It may sound selfish, but it’s a necessary part of my life.

This past week, I have added several things to my less stress and heal myself wheelhouse. Reading is one of the first things that I have taken more time to do. It is something that I enjoy doing, but haven’t; especially during the school year.

Right now, I am reading Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis: Lifestyle Interventions for Finding and Treating the Root Cause. I am a firm believer in being well informed. Since I have been sick for so long, without much information to go on, I am trying to soak up as much as I can in an attempt to continue to heal.

During the week, I also ordered Laura Ingalls Wilder’s autobiography. Since it was released last year, it has sold out. The second printing was ordered, and I will have to wait until it comes. You can read more about that here.

With the cold and snow of winter firmly upon us, my hubby and I are talking about escaping to a warmer climate. One can dream, right?
